    The theme: My favourite film. (5 form)

     

    Objectives: to practice the vocabulary related to genres of films, to develop students’ reading skills for gist and speaking skills for making their own topic "My favourite film”, to stimulate pupils thinking, to bring up pupils’ interest to different genres of films.

    Equipment: Oxford team 1(SB), flashcards ”Genres of films”, cards "Genres of films”, cards "Genres of films” agree/disagree, match the words, video( cartoon, genres of films, physical warm-up)

                                                         Lesson

    Greeting: Good  morning, pupils. Who is on duty today? Who’s absent?

    What is the day, month, season now? What is the weather like today? What do you like to do in such weather?

    Theme, aim: The theme of our lesson is "My favourite film”. Today we ‘ll speak about your attitude to different genres of films, read the text about Linda’s favourite film. At the end of the lesson we’ll have taught to describe your favourite films.

    Warming-up: I know that you like watching films very much. Some of you prefer watching films at home, others – at the cinema.

    Phonetical drill: Before speaking about films let’s remember pronunciation of some words. (table on the blackboard)

    A comedy

    A cowboy film

    A historical film

    A cartoon

    A serial

    A thriller

     

    Vocabulary practice: What is your favourite genre? Tell me why do you like it? (Because it’s interesting, scary…)

     

    Agree or disagree with statements.

     

    1. Comedies are funny.

    2. Romantic films are interesting.

    3. Adventure films are boring.

    4. Science-fictions films are scary.

    5. Horror films are frightening.

    6. Cowboy films are very interesting.

    7. War films are really sad.

    8. Serials are exciting.

    9. Cartoons are funny.

    10. Thrillers are scary.

    11. Historical films are very interesting.

     

    New vocabulary phrases:

     

    …make me laugh

    … is a good way to relax

    … is full of special effects

    …put me in a joyful mood

    … make  me cry

    Last lesson we introduced some phrases which help us describe films.

     

    Pictures:  Look at the pictures and describe these films (genre, what film is it(to your mind, why do you like it)

    Do you agree with Eva, Sasha…? Give your opinion.

    Video: Look at films and guess genres of films , why do you like them.

    Pre-reading activity:  Now we’ll read Linda’s composition about her favourite film. For that we need to know some vocabulary phrases.

    My favourite film is Dinosaur. It’s a brilliant cartoon and the main character is a cute little dinosaur called Aladar. I saw it on my birthday with my parents and my big brother.

    In the film, Aladar is a baby dinosaur  and he comes out of a very big egg. Some kind animals look after him because he hasn’t got any parents. There is a terrible accident and they all go to a new country. In the new country, Aladar tries to help his unusual family find a safe place to live.

    It’s my favourite film because the cartoons are beautiful, Aladar is kind, the music is good and the story is exciting. Also, the film has lots of amazing special effects.

    Homework: ex.6 p. 93( forIra, Dasha, Alina - 6-7 sentences, other pupils  -10 sentences), revise vocabulary words for word dictation.

     

    Summarising: What have you done today? What activities have you liked the most, what tasks were difficult / easy for you?
